Job Description

Senior Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Apply strong analytical skills and engineering knowledge to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Provide technical leadership for interdisciplinary projects where a broad range of physics, maths, electronics, mechanical and software skills are required
  • Be hands-on with designing and performing experiments, analysing data and developing solutions
  • Plan investigative work alongside the project team and deliver to agreed timelines, effectively communicating challenges as they arise
  • Develop, maintain and ensure consistency across system level design documentation
  • Establish best practices to address system performance problems, both to ensure our product meets user needs and to provide concise evidence to regulatory bodies
  • Contribute to the wider engineering process, including requirements and risk management documentation
  • We’re a high growth company and roles can change and evolve. You’ll need to be willing to turn your hand to anything within the Systems and Technology remit that supports the team with delivering its objectives

About You:

  • A degree level qualification or higher in engineering, physics or other technical discipline
  • Broad technical knowledge and experience of complex systems, encompassing engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical and software
  • Significant experience in solving engineering problems and driving technical solutions throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written technical documentation
  • A genuine desire to help and support team members so that we can all achieve our best

It would also be helpful if you have:

  • Appreciation of DF(x) requirements, particularly for manufacturing, reliability, and test
  • Experience in medical devices or an equivalent regulated industry, including practical application of relevant standards
  • Technical leadership experience with small engineering teams
  • Good working knowledge of risk management
  • Working experience of mechanical CAD systems, ideally SolidWorks
  • Significant experience analysing experimental data using Python
  • An understanding of how to analyse and model dynamic systems under closed-loop control
  • Practical experience in experimental design, ideally using statistical and Design of Experiments methodology
