Job Description

Maintenance Shift Supervisor 


  • Issue out daily tasks, prioritising and planning individual workloads, via a Maintenance software platform
  • To assist the Engineering Manager to maintain site compliance in accordance with the HSE Regulations covering Legionella, Dsear, Loler, Puwer and COSHH
  • Control and supervise external contractors to ensure the company’s H&S policies are met and adhered to
  • Ensure the departments risk assessments and SOPs are updated and compliant
  • Drive KPI targets through continuous improvement within the Maintenance Team
  • Assess individual training needs and implement development plans for each team member
  • Monitor and control weekly Inventory and stock levels, ordering critical spares whilst staying within budgetary restraints
  • Strive for energy excellence, driving the team to develop and focus on best practices
  • Provide technical and mentoring support to the Maintenance Team
  • Hands on approach is required as and when necessary
  • Deal with disciplinaries, grievances, and any unacceptable behaviour within the team

Skills / Knowledge

  • Understanding of Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance
  • Refrigeration knowledge/experience
  • Ammonia knowledge
  • Warehouse/Distribution knowledge/experience
  • Computer knowledge
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving organization
  • Responsive problem-solving skills with an action-oriented mind set
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise accordingly


  • NVQ, BTEC, NNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 17th/18th Edition Qualified – desirable
  • IOSH Managing safety
