Maintenance Engineer
Responsibilities:
Responsibility for the repair and maintenance of production machinery to a level that optimises machine efficiency and performance to achieve companies Goals & Objectives.
Quality
- Understand and demonstrate a “Quality First” philosophy ensuring all work they carry out on machines does not affect product quality.
- Liaise with OPS & PEN when quality problems occur and ensure requests are actioned.
Safety & Environmental
- Ensure that any PPE required for all maintenance tasks is worn correctly and any problems with PPE are reported to the Team Leader.
- Ensure that they read, understand, follow and sign for all Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and 3s procedure for maintenance activities they are involved in.
- Ensure that all Environmental Procedures are adhered to including segregation, waste disposal and COSHH.
- Identify and escalate any machine equipment or process in an abnormal condition.
- Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage.
Delivery
- Carry out calendar and monthly Preventative Maintenance (PM) requests from schedules & frequencies on all machines, processes and assembly lines.
- Carry out breakdown maintenance activity to improve machine availability.
- Liaise with OPS & PEN to identify and implement equipment & process Kaizen activities to improve availability, cycle time, changeover, Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and Quality.
- Complete maintenance requisitions that include red tag & blue tag plus safety requisitions when requested to do so.
- Identify Kaizen opportunities within the sections and seek to implement ideas.
- Actively participate in any individual Goals & Objectives they have been asked to complete.
Cost
- Continuously look for cost down opportunities and inform the Team Leader of any ideas.
- Assess the viability of repair first rather than fit new parts from stores.
- Ensure all items used from stores are booked out and Job Number allocated.
Human
- Ensure 5s is actively carried out on all tasks undertaken including the work areas and hot corners.
- At end of shift give all relevant information with opposite shift members who may carry on the task.
- Contribute to your own self-development to ensure your knowledge is at the appropriate level.
- Utilise effective communication across all functions.
About You:
Essential (All Technicians)
- Apprentice Trained in an Electrical
- Working knowledge of high volume production equipment, processes and assembly lines.
Maintenance Technician (Electrical)
- In-depth knowledge of PLC & computerised control systems and interfaces.
- In-depth Knowledge of Servo Control systems.
- Experience of working on AC & DC voltages from 5 to 415 Volts 3 phase.
- Robot programming and repair skills.
- In-depth knowledge of moulding machines and processes
Maintenance Technician (Mechanical)
- In-depth knowledge of Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Mechanical Drawings.
- In-depth knowledge of Vacuum Systems.
- Ability to set up machine components to a very fine tolerance to ensure product quality.
Desirable (All Technicians)
- Knowledge of Japanese Machinery and systems.
- Previous Experience of the Automotive manufacturing Industry.
- Previous Experience of the Moulding manufacturing Industry.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Professional or Vocational qualification in Engineering ( NVQ 3, City & Guilds
Maintenance Technician (Electrical)
- Working knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems.
- Working Knowledge of Vacuum Systems
- Ability to set up machine components to a fine tolerance.
- Working knowledge of PLC’s, able to go on line and check ladder programs.
- Robot programming and repair skills.
- Working knowledge of Servo controlled systems, able to adjust data.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation for machinery e.g. PUWER, LOLER etc.
- Ability to interact with different cultures and utilise colleagues to achieve outcomes.
