Get to know the team – Adam Ali

1)What’s your name and job title?

Adam Ali, Trainee Recruitment Consultant

2)How long have you worked at Willcox Matthews?

6 months

3)What does your job entail?

Handling a lot of phone calls and emails, searching for candidates and talking to my clients

4)What is a typical day like?

Bright and early hike with the dog, a CV search in the morning, calls all afternoon, an evening hike with the dog, dinner and finally bed.

5)Favourite memory from your time at work?

Making my first placement during my first month!

6)What’s an ideal client?

One that provides detailed feedback at every stage of the recruitment process.

7)What advice would you offer for someone who wants to be in your industry?

Resilience and hard work are essential to recruitment.

8)What do you like most about your job?

The satisfaction of finding a good CV, and the candidate being as good as their CV says.

9)What do you find most challenging about your job?

Finding a good cv, and finding a candidate who lives up to their CV.

10)Where are you from?

I was born in Slough but moved to Worcester when I started high school.

11)Where did you go to school?

I went to school in Malvern, the Chase.

12)What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

Outside of work I like to spend my time hiking.

13)What do you follow outside of work (sports / theatre / tv shows / comics)?

I love everything about Formula 1, from reading about the complex engineering that goes into the cars to the dramas that unfold on and off the racetrack.

14)What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I am a strong swimmer.

15)What was your first paying job?

My first paying job was as a retail assistant at WHS Smiths.

16)Do you have a pet?

Currently I have Dalmatian but looking to add a Doberman to my family soon.

17)What’s one thing you’re really good at / one thing you’re really bad at?

I like to think I’m a good writer, but my handwriting is nearly illegible.

18)What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

Hair trimmers (cannot stand my hair being long)

A spare set of glasses, I’m bound to lose a set and can’t see a thing without them

A good book, maybe Fahrenheit 451

19)If you could have a career in anything, what would it be?

To this day I still want to go to space, so a career in NASA!

20)If you could meet anyone (real / fictional) who would it be and why?

Winston Churchill, so we could share a bottle of whiskey and talk about how he defeated the greatest evil in modern times!
